The long form version starts with the with two-layer foam coated ELITE Softshell panels and Pearl's Thermal fabric in key ventilation zones that require warmth but greater breathability. The stretch of the materials allows for layering and comfort, without feeling bulky or squared off. You get great windblocking, with water resistance and multi-layer flexibility on the front, arms and over the shoulders. The lower back and pocket structure features new Softshell Lite fabric for even greater stretch and breathability without sacrificing wind and water protection.

This Pearl Izumi and that means features and details are just as well conceived as the fabric technology. The tapered collar follows the neckline as you lower head, taller in the back, lower in the front. The material is soft, wicking, and supple so you stay comfortable, even fully zipped up. The zipper itself covers a full length internal draft flap that seals in warmth, seals out the elements, and protects your inner layers from the zipper itself. The external rear pocket structure is a roomy 3-section design and has a zippered security pocket for valuables. The cycling cut means a longer rear hem, shorter and curved in the front to eliminate bunching, as well as similar sleeve cuff construction, longer on the outer, shorter under the wrist. Finally Pearl adds the standard reflective elements for safety and visibility.

The ELITE Pursuit Softshell Jacket, unlike it's standard ELITE predecessor is truly a cycling-only piece now, which you can truly appreciate on the bike, yet it is still roomy enough for flexible layering options. Pearl rates it for 30-40°F, but our feeling is you can get greater range depending on your output level, conditions and personal preferences.
