Description
Long-distance gravel events punish bikes that prioritize stiffness over compliance. Hours into a race, the accumulated vibration from rough surfaces compounds into fatigue that no amount of training can overcome. Pinarello designed the Grevil F5 around this reality, building a platform that absorbs punishment while maintaining the acceleration and handling characteristics required for competitive riding. The result sits comfortably between pure race machines with their tight geometries and adventure bikes optimized for multi-day tours.
The frame uses Toray T700 UD carbon, a material that balances responsiveness against vibration damping without the weight penalties associated with lower-modulus layups. Pinarello positions this carbon grade below the T900 found in the F7 and F9 models, but the practical difference on rough terrain favors the T700's compliance characteristics. The Twin Arms seatstay design works in conjunction with the D-shape adaptive seatpost, which provides 10mm of longitudinal flex to absorb impacts coming through the rear wheel. This suspension effect maintains traction when the terrain deteriorates without introducing the lateral flex that would compromise pedaling efficiency.
Pinarello developed the Grevil F geometry with shorter reach and higher stack than their road platforms, creating a position that remains sustainable over extended efforts. The 430mm chainstays fall between the responsiveness of pure race bikes and the stability of touring geometries, while differentiated fork rake across frame sizes maintains consistent trail measurements regardless of rider height. Tire clearance accommodates up to 50mm rubber on 700c wheels, providing flexibility to run aggressive treads when conditions demand traction over speed.... Read More
