The Reynolds Attack Carbon Clincher Tubeless Wheel is the lightest and shallowest wheel in their performance line. It's stout, stable, shallow rim shape makes the Attack a perfect choice for hill climbs and descents or for cyclists who like to challenge the UCI weight limit. Riders wary of crosswinds will still get some aero benefit of a 29mm cross section with the 25mm external width means stability without getting blown around when the breeze picks up.
Lighter, stiffer, and faster than the previous Attack model, aerodynamics have also been optimized through Computational Fluid Dynamics to maximize all aero benefit from the 29mm rim profile. To build the Attack rim Reynolds utilizes two technology processes. First is Enhanced SLG. Lighter, stiffer, and faster than the previous version, aerodynamics have also been improved through Computational Fluid Dynamics with the Enhanced SLG, or Swirl Lip Generator. This is essentially a groove on both sides of the rim profile that drastically improves air flow, reduces drag, and assists in wheel stability. Reynolds sources aerospace-quality carbon fiber from Japan, developed specifically to Reynolds specifications. The engineers employ their PR3 methodology, precisely assigning different carbon fiber lay-ups to three distinct regions of the rim. Each lay-up (fiber, resin, and epoxy) is optimized for the specific requirements of that area. For example, the strength requirement of the rim hook bead is much different from the rim shell profile, but the brake track has it's own needs. As such these areas have different construction.
