Description
Steel framesets built for electronic shifting still sit in a small corner of the market, and Ritchey's Outback Di2 Frameset addresses that gap with internal routing designed around Shimano's semi-wireless Di2 wiring. The frame is built from heat-treated, triple-butted Ritchey Logic steel tubing, TIG welded, with stealth wire routing for semi-wireless drivetrains and DSP internal routing through the seat tube. It's compatible only with Shimano's Di2 EW-SD300 wire for 12-speed, paired with Ritchey's proprietary triple-butted steel tubing developed for the TIG welding process to Tom's specifications.
The 2025 Outback brings a handful of meaningful updates over previous editions. Standout features include internal routing for a 27.2 dropper post, a rack mount on the fork crown, and internal dynamo routing. A new XXL size joins the lineup, sized for riders 6'2" or taller, so the full size range now spans XS to XXL. Aurora and Winter Sage are the headline colorways for the model year, with a Grey/White option rounding out the choices.
Geometry follows the Outback's established formula — long enough wheelbase to settle the bike on rough surfaces, but with reach numbers that keep it from feeling sluggish. The frame's geometry includes a 50mm fork rake, 453mm chainstays, and a 1061mm wheelbase on the larger sizes, with bottom bracket drop running 68-70mm depending on size. The Outback puts riders in a more upright position than a standard road bike but stays less upright than some adventure-focused gravel rigs; the long chainstays produce a long wheelbase, and the bottom bracket drop is greater than a cyclo-cross bike.
