The Short Aspide Open-Fit Saddle represents an evolution of the iconic full length Aspide Open-Fit saddle. At 250mm in length the Aspide meets the now current shorter length saddle standard. For many racing cyclists gone are the days of a longer saddle that allowed for more fore-aft movement. The reality is a saddle that holds and supports the rider with an ideal level of comfort and the ability to maximize pedaling power with every revolution is more efficient stroke after stroke. The proven Wave anatomic profile combined with a carbon reinforced shell and Xsilite (titanium alloy blend) rails make for a saddle platform that is lightweight and built for top performance. The carbon reinforced shell with San Marco's Biofoam padding and high quality construction is a popular choice for many cyclists.

The Aspide shape features San Marco's Wave design. This means that the side profile of the saddle from front to rear has a 5mm central depression, similar to a curved line or wave. This wave shape is a natural anatomic fit and provides the base for lumbar and lower back support with a good balance of support and relief. The Aspide Open-Fit saddle has a long central cutout called- Open-Fit. This full length cut-out improves the blood flow to prevent numbness and provide welcome pressure relief on the perineum. Now, on the Shortfit variation, the cut-out is still full length relative to the 250mm overall length, and even more defined as the seating position is more consistent at all times when the rider is seated.

The carbon fiber reinforced shell has the right balance of flexibility and support to provide a solid cycling platform. The shell is mounted to San Marco's Xsilite rails. Those familiar with San Marco will be no stranger to these hollow steel rails that are constructed with a high percentage of silicon and combined with titanium and carbon particles. The are durable and offer just the right amount of flex for a form of passive suspension on the bike. The Microfeel cover is similar to leather, except far easier to care for and maintain. The rear corners are have faux carbon protection panels to protect the saddle in this vulnerable area.
