Freehub bodies are the kind of part nobody thinks about until a cassette starts skipping under load or a rebuild reveals gouged splines on the drive side. Shimano's FH-TC600 Micro Spline Freehub Body is the factory replacement unit for the TC600 rear hub, purpose-built to run 12-speed Micro Spline cassettes on e-bikes and high-torque trekking builds where the original freehub has worn out or a rider is converting from an HG-splined setup.

Micro Spline exists because Shimano needed a freehub interface that could accommodate a 10-tooth top cog, which the traditional HG spline geometry couldn't physically support. The smaller spline diameter unlocks that 10T access and shifts the cassette engagement to a 23-spline aluminum interface that spreads torque across a wider contact area than the older 9-spline HG pattern. That matters on an e-bike, where motor-assisted watts drive cassette-to-freehub loads well beyond what human legs put through the same interface, and softer freehub materials tend to gouge under that abuse.

Compatibility is Micro Spline only. This freehub body accepts Shimano 12-speed mountain cassettes from Deore through XTR, including the 10-51T wide-range options, plus Shimano's 1x12 GRX gravel cassettes that share the interface. It does not accept HG cassettes, SRAM XD or XDR cassettes, or Shimano's 12-speed road cassettes — those require different freehub bodies entirely.
