Description
A worn inner ring shows up first as hesitation when you shift under load, then progresses to skipping and eventually dropped chains. This 31T replacement chainring for the GRX FC-RX810-2 crankset restores the shift quality you had when the drivetrain was new. If you're running the stock 48-31T combination and the inner ring has started to show shark-finning on the tooth profiles, swapping just this ring gets you back to clean shifts without replacing the entire crankset.
The 31T count pairs with the 48T outer ring to create a 17-tooth front range, which Shimano designed specifically for gravel riding. That range gives you a bailout gear for steep climbs while keeping the jumps between chainrings manageable enough that you're not hunting for the right cadence after every front shift. The combination works particularly well with 11-34T or 11-36T cassettes, delivering a low gear that handles loaded bikepacking or loose climbs without sacrificing high-end speed on pavement sections.
The ring mounts on an 80mm BCD using the four-bolt pattern specific to GRX cranksets. This isn't a universal fit; it's designed for the FC-RX810-2 and FC-RX600 cranks and won't work with standard road cranksets or other gravel platforms. The asymmetric bolt circle positions the chainring for the 46.9mm chainline that GRX uses, which is outboard of typical road setups to accommodate wider tires and chainstays.... Read More
