For the double chainring (2x) 10-speed GRX 400 drivetrain, Shimano has carried forward the design of the more rugged version of the 11-speed versions. The GRX FD-RX400 front derailleur offers lighter front shifting operation and easier setup thanks to the toggle-design 7 link construction, and has the awesome integrated cable tensioner with super clean finished cable routing found on higher end road and GRX components. It features a new 2.5mm outboard chain line designed to allow wider tire clearance (up to 42mm) for mixed-terrain riding. The FD-RX400 accommodates a 16T front chainring range for specific gearing options, such as that found on the 2x GRX 400 crankset; a 46-30T combination.

Though this is a 10-speed front derailleur, it has the advanced design and features developed for Utlegra R8000 and GRX 800 11-speed. It is highly efficient and precise, as all Shimano front derailleurs. It is comparable in weight to the GRX 800 model and while not flashy in the eyes of many, it delivers incredible shifting performance you can rely on, even over rough terrain and a wide range cassette in back.
