Description
Running a dropper post on a gravel bike usually means clamping an extra remote somewhere on your bars and figuring out how to reach it from the drops. Shimano's GRX ST-RX810-LA eliminates that compromise by building dropper actuation directly into the left brake lever. The small paddle that would normally handle front shifting now pulls your dropper cable instead, letting you raise and lower the post without moving your hands from their normal position. It's a 1x-specific solution that makes sense once you accept that gravel riding borrows liberally from mountain biking.
The set arrives complete with a pre-bled BR-RX810-F flat mount front caliper, SM-BH90-JK-SSR hydraulic hose, and IceTech finned resin pads. You're installing a ready-to-run front brake system alongside the dropper integration. The caliper uses ceramic pistons and a low-profile design that tucks close to the fork leg, keeping things tidy while maintaining the heat dissipation you need for extended descents on loose terrain. Shimano's One Way Bleeding system means future service doesn't require special tools or complicated procedures.
SERVOWAVE technology shapes the brake lever's response curve so initial pad travel happens quickly with minimal lever movement, then power multiplication increases once the pads contact the rotor. You spend more of the lever stroke actually modulating braking force rather than just closing the gap. The rotary axle sits 18mm higher than standard road levers, which combined with the GRX-specific hood shape puts your hands in a more natural position when you're riding rough surfaces from the hoods or drops....
