Shimano has basically re-invented the mountain bike front derailleur. This first-ever Side-Swing front derailleur design increases shift performance by a staggering 100 percent. Designed specifically with modern longer travel and larger wheel trail bikes in mind, Shimano's XTR FD-M9000 Side-Swing front derailleur provides 15mm of increased tire clearance, while new cable routing dramatically reduces shifting effort. This Side Swing design requires unique cable routing that follows the down tube and goes directly into the front derailleur. Since this routing isn't possible on all frames a FD-M9025 conventional front derailleur is also available for Side Swing incompatible frames.

Choose from high mount or low mount. Generally, the low mount is the preferred style for leverage if will fit your frame. The low mount may not always work with seat tubes that flair or are ovalized and the bottom of the tube by the bottom bracket juncture - select . Some folks prefer the high mount for reduced mud build up and its old-school looks. This adaptive design works on top and bottom pull bikes and fits 28.6, 31.8 and 34.9 seat tubes thanks to included shims.
