Silca's redefinition of the tubeless ready world includes a premium option for tubeless valves that have been engineered for greater strength, reduced weight and improved tubeless performance. Add in that aerodynamics have also been considered with the addition of the sculpted silicone SpeedShield units and you have seriously well thought out and executed tubeless valves.

The valve stems themselves are CNC machined from solid aluminum stock, not tubular. Silca achieved 50-200% greater strength over the latter design, and reduced weight 50% on average from brass valve stems. These advances are more keenly appreciate on longer valve stems. Of course Silca didin't stop there. The valve cores are also CNC machined, and matched with a fully machined brass pin with roll formed thread, to the spin-formed ridge (instead of crimped) that keeps the valve nut from unthreading too far. The fully machined design leaves more internal space within these valves allows for better airflow as well as making them more tolerant of sealant.

Silca's direct research found that shielding the lower 10mm of the stem AND the valve stem nut resulted in even greater savings, 0.2-0.3 Watts per wheel at 30mph. They developed the SpeedShield to sit down onto the nut and integrate as cleanly with the rim as possible. This also prevents the nut from loosening over time. Now the aerodynamic gains aren't going to interest every rider, but if you have invested deep section tubeless ready carbon rims, we have a feeling you can be convinced. If you need added rationale, each SpeedShield contains a spherical recess to hold the valve stem nut, and the high durometer, high strength silicone is optimized to ensure the valve stem maintains optimal tension within the rim so that it remains sealed, but also ensures there are no bending loads in the stem which are the cause of so many failures in aluminum stems.
