Description
Stepping from the Crux Expert to the Crux Pro answers a question that matters at this price point: where do the upgrade dollars actually land? In this case, the frame stays the same — both builds use the FACT 10r carbon chassis with Rider First Engineering across all 6 sizes — and the geometry is identical. What changes is everything bolted to it. The Specialized Crux Pro moves to SRAM's Force XPLR AXS E1 groupset with an integrated Quarq power meter, upgrades to Roval Terra CL carbon wheels with lighter hubs, and swaps the alloy cockpit bar for a Roval Terra carbon handlebar. Those targeted component upgrades pull the complete bike weight down to 16.84 lbs in size 56, roughly a full pound lighter than the Expert build, while adding power measurement that would otherwise cost several hundred dollars as an aftermarket addition.
The FACT 10r carbon frame anchors the build with an 825-gram frame weight and the same construction approach Specialized developed for the Aethos road platform. Tube profiles and layup schedules are tuned independently per size rather than scaled from a single mold, which means a size 49 and a size 61 share ride characteristics despite dramatically different tube lengths and junction angles. A threaded bottom bracket shell, 12x142mm thru-axle, flat-mount disc tabs, and Universal Derailleur Hanger keep future maintenance and component compatibility straightforward. Tire clearance reaches 47mm on 700c wheels or 2.1" on 650b, matching the Diverge platform's capability in a frame that weighs substantially less.
SRAM's Force XPLR AXS E1 groupset handles shifting wirelessly across a 1x13-speed drivetrain — the additional cog over the previous 12-speed XPLR system closes the gear gaps that made earlier 1x gravel setups feel stretched at moderate cruising speeds. The Force XPLR XG-1371 cassette spans a 10-46t range paired with a 40-tooth chainring, delivering 460% total gear range through a single chainring. That's enough low-end gearing for extended gravel climbs and enough top end to stay efficient on paved roads between sectors. The E1-generation shift levers update the hood ergonomics from the previous eTAP design, and the integrated Quarq power meter built into the Force E1 XPLR crankset provides real-time wattage data without adding a separate spider or pedal-based unit....
