Specialized Turbo Creo SL Comp Carbon Bicycle

The market has embraced e-bikes as a whole, and performance options are improving quickly, with price points being more manageable. The e-road bike has been a tough nut to crack- not to make, but to make great, and offer the ride and emotional experiences that road cyclists can appreciate. Specialized has a long history of developing the world's highest performing road bikes. Tarmac, Venge, Roubaix, Allez, Diverge- each one dominates their respective category, featuring the best technologies in the industry. And while that's a tough palmarès to follow, the Turbo Creo SL design redefines e-road bike performance. It's lightweight, smooth, capable, and lively, all with the power to flatten mountains, laugh at headwinds, and go farther than you ever thought possible. It's you, only faster.

That is the key to understanding the e-road market for enthusiasts. Some folks live in places that are lovely to ride, but beyond their natural abilities. Some have life or health limitations. Other just enjoy the cycling experience but want to take it further, and yes, faster than their current capabilities. Well, an e-road bike can serve this very real market, and it is just as valid and as engaged as any other. With the technology and engineering know-how, Specialized has pushed to the head of the pack to deliver not just e-road bikes, but great e-road bikes, with the battery life, speed, power, ride quality and geometry required to enable the best experiences.

The Turbo Creo SL Comp Carbon features the Specialized Fact 11r carbon chassis. That is the same one found on their top-end S-Works model, and you'll also get the Future Shock 2.0, which is a clean, integrated ride damping system that improves overall ride quality and rider comfort by taking the edge off vibration and impacts at the front wheel. For the build spec, the bike is equipped with a 1x11 Shimano GRX-led group to take on shifting and braking duties, while DT R470 Boost™ wheels get wrapped in 28mm Turbo Pro tires to keep you rolling worry-free. And for the saddle, you'll find that the rider-favorite Body Geometry Power Sport provides plenty of comfort. All the details are listed below, though we suspect you want to know more about the motor and power system.

This is a very capable, efficient set-up designed by Specialized. The lightweight SL 1.1 motor doubles your effort with as much as 240 watts of silent and powerful assistance to amplify your ride. The motor’s responsive torque curve delivers power perfectly in-tune with your normal riding cadence and leaves no resistance when riding unassisted. Concerned about battery life? Not on the Creo SL. With up to 80 miles of range from the internal battery, the Creo SL eats up big miles and long days. Specialized even offers an optional range extender that provides up to 40 additional miles of mountain-flattening power.

You have a few ways to monitor the power assist system. First is the Turbo Connect Unit (TCU) on the top tube. This simple yet comprehensive unit features battery monitoring via 10-LED State of Charge status bar, as well as a, 3-LED Ride Mode display and operation button, and has ANT+/Bluetooth® connectivity. This is all you truly require, but for those who prefer to be more engaged and connected, Specialized offers their Mission Control smartphone app, where you're able to tune the SL 1.1 motor to your riding style, record rides, and monitor the battery. The app can handle battery management automatically too, ensuring the battery will last as long as you need it to. The motor even has a built-in power meter that transmits to any ANT+ head unit.

The charge port for the internal downtube battery is located on the non-drive side, just above the bottom bracket. Average full charge time at home is about 2.5 hours. With Specialized an international company, many areas outside of the US can offer support, and in the US a vast dealer network can easily be accessed. Batteries, parts, support, etc., are all widely available. You also have the benefit of a proven company, with the history and knowledge to develop and produce reliable, safe and fun bicycles of all kinds, including this Turbo Creo SL Comp Carbon e-road bike.
