Description

The SRAM Eagle Transmission 1987 Edition celebrates nearly four decades of relentless innovation with a one-time, globally limited release of just 1,987 groupsets. Rooted in the same pursuit of the “better ride” that began in 1987, this collection combines the most advanced T-Type Ecosystem components with an exclusive silver finish. Every piece is individually numbered, marking it as a true collector’s edition while delivering the uncompromising performance of Eagle Transmission. This groupset embodies SRAM’s dream realized—blending heritage, cutting-edge engineering, and striking aesthetics into a single package built for those who demand the best.

At the heart of the 1987 Collection lies SRAM’s lightest-weight T-Type cassette to date, shaving an additional 25 grams off the XX SL benchmark without sacrificing durability, range, or performance. Retaining the proven 10-52T spread, it delivers flawless shift-under-load capability, ensuring riders maintain momentum in the most demanding conditions. Complementing the cassette is the 1987 T-Type chain, featuring hollow links, hollow pins, and a Hard Chrome coating. This advanced design strikes the perfect balance of low weight and unparalleled strength, raising the bar for drivetrain efficiency and longevity while pushing the strength-to-weight ratio to new limits.

The groupset also debuts the X0-inspired aluminum crankset in a 170mm length—the most popular choice among serious riders. Integrated within is SRAM’s spider-based power meter, providing precise dual-sided power measurement and threaded chainring compatibility. Each bundle includes both 34t and 32t chainrings, plus the dedicated removal tool for straightforward swaps. Pairing the crankset is the Eagle Transmission rear derailleur, designed around the radical Full Mount interface for maximum stiffness, crispness, and resilience, all finished in the exclusive 1987 silver colorway. This rear derailleur integrates seamlessly with the AXS wireless platform, providing smooth, accurate, and fully customizable shifting for modern high-performance riding.

To complete the system, the 1987 Collection includes two AXS Pod Ultimate Controllers, offering ergonomic control layouts with left- and right-hand customization and Reverb AXS integration. The package ships with two SRAM AXS rechargeable batteries, a four-bay USB-C charger, and all necessary components to build a truly elite drivetrain. Every detail reflects SRAM’s commitment to precision and rider experience, from the limited-edition finish to the technical refinements across the groupset. The 1987 Eagle Transmission AXS Collection is more than just a drivetrain—it is SRAM’s heritage and vision, realized in a limited release built to deliver uncompromising performance and timeless style. This is the dream delivered.
