Description

The 10-speed Force groupset predates SRAM's move to 11 and 12-speed road drivetrains, and finding a wide-range rear derailleur for that era of bike is where WiFli comes in. The Force WiFli 10-speed rear derailleur is SRAM's medium-cage answer to riders who want compact gearing paired with a climbing-friendly cassette — specifically, cassettes up to 32 teeth on the large cog. If you're maintaining a 10-speed Force build or reviving an older frame with SRAM road parts on it, this is the derailleur that lets you keep the drivetrain consistent without stepping down to Rival or up to a mountain mech.

WiFli stands for Wider, Faster, Lighter, and it's SRAM's shorthand for the 2x10 setup that replaces a traditional road triple. With WiFLi, the rear derailleur lengthens its cage and gets a slight variation in geometry to accommodate an 11-32 cassette. The new range of gears is wider than the standard triple chainring system and saves well over 250 grams. The medium cage handles the 37-tooth chain wrap capacity needed to run a compact 50/34 crank against an 11-32 cassette without the chain going slack in the small-small combination or binding in the big-big.

Shifting comes from SRAM's Exact Actuation cable pull ratio, which is the 1:1 ratio SRAM originally developed for their mountain drivetrains before applying it to 10-speed road. When SRAM launched their road technology from scratch, they reapplied the MTB-proven 1:1 actuation ratio for 10-speed rear shifting, which helps simplify and stabilize the balance between derailleur hanger design, tight cog spacing, and cable tension. In practice, that means setup is straightforward and stays in adjustment longer than tighter-ratio systems. Every click at the shifter moves the derailleur 3mm across the cassette.... Read More
