Description
Single-speed drivetrains put different demands on a chain than geared systems. Without derailleur tension or cassette ramps to manage, the chain handles all the torque directly—every pedal stroke, every standing climb, every fixed-gear skid stop. The PC-1 addresses this with a 1/8-inch width that matches the thicker cogs and chainrings found on track bikes, fixies, and BMX setups.
The wider plates distribute load across more material than the narrower chains designed for multi-speed drivetrains. Nickel plating on the outer plates adds corrosion resistance for bikes that see weather exposure or spend time locked outside. The inner plates and rollers run on the same steel construction SRAM uses across their chain lineup.
At 114 links, the PC-1 covers most single-speed configurations without cutting. Track bikes with tight rear triangles might need a few links removed, while longer-chainstay commuters and cruisers typically use most of the length. The chain works with any single-speed master link or requires a chain tool for installation if you prefer a seamless look without a quick link.... Read More
