PC-1051 10-Speed Chain
Description
Sitting at the bottom of SRAM's 10-speed road chain hierarchy, the PC-1051 is the workhorse option for riders running Rival, Force, or Red 10-speed drivetrains who want SRAM's PowerLock connecting link without paying for the hollow-pin construction of the higher-tier chains. The updated design uses slightly re-shaped outer plates for quieter performance and comes in at 271 grams — a small weight penalty over the pricier options in exchange for solid pin rivets and a lower price point.
Made specifically for 10-speed drivetrains, the PC-1051 mates with the tooth shaping and pickup/release points on SRAM's cassettes and chainrings, and installs without special tools thanks to SRAM's PowerLock connecting link. SRAM chain engineers developed PowerLock as a tool-free, consistent way to connect chains, though the tight tolerances of 10- and 11-speed drivetrains mandate that each PowerLock is good for a one-time application only. If you need to break the chain again for cleaning or removal, plan on having a spare PowerLock on hand.
The chain is compatible with both SRAM and Shimano 10-speed drivetrains, so it works as a direct replacement on Shimano Tiagra, 105 5700, Ultegra 6700, and Dura-Ace 7900 setups as well as SRAM Apex, Rival, Force, and Red 10-speed. Nickel silver inner and outer plates and chrome-hardened pins handle the wear side of the equation, and the 114-link length covers standard road drivetrain builds without needing extra links for most standard chainstay lengths....
