Description
Inner chainrings wear faster than outer rings because they handle the load during low-speed climbing efforts when you're grinding torque rather than spinning. The SRAM Powerglide 10-speed inner chainring replaces worn rings on Force, Rival, and Apex cranksets without requiring a full crankset swap. If your shifting has gone sluggish under load and new cables didn't fix it, worn chainring teeth are the likely culprit.
The Powerglide tooth profile uses shaped ramps and pins to guide the chain during downshifts. When you click into the small ring mid-climb, the chain needs to drop cleanly without hesitation or overshifting into the pedal. Fresh teeth make that transition predictable again. Worn rings develop hooked profiles that grab the chain inconsistently, causing delayed shifts or that lurching sensation when the chain finally drops.
These rings use 110mm BCD with a five-bolt pattern, which matches SRAM's 10-speed road cranks. They'll also fit other 110mm five-bolt cranks, though the shift ramp timing is optimized for Powerglide outer rings. Running a Powerglide inner with a mismatched outer still works, but you might notice slightly less crisp front shifts compared to a matched set.... Read More
