X01 Eagle 12-Speed Chain
Color: Silver
Description
The X01 Eagle chain sits one step below XX1 in SRAM's 12-speed mountain hierarchy, and for most riders it's the sweet spot in the Eagle chain lineup — you get the same Hard Chrome inner-link treatment and hollow-pin construction as XX1, minus the PVD-coated outer plates and the gold/rainbow color options. The pins and rollers are the same across XX1 and X01 , so the wear performance is nearly identical to the flagship at a lower price point. If you're running an Eagle drivetrain and want a chain that lasts, this is where the value lives.
The Hard Chrome finishing process on the inner links and rollers gives the X01 four times the elongation resistance of standard SRAM chains , which matters more than it sounds. Chain stretch accelerates cassette and chainring wear, and Eagle cassettes aren't cheap to replace. A chain that resists elongation longer is a chain that protects the rest of the drivetrain, so the premium over a GX Eagle chain tends to pay for itself across the life of the drivetrain — especially if you're diligent about checking wear with a gauge and swapping the chain before it hits 0.5%.
Flow Link construction removes the square edges from the inner plates, so the chain engages the cassette and chainring with less friction, runs quieter, and holds up better under the extreme chainline angles a 1x12 setup sees at the ends of the cassette. Mud-clearing recesses on the inner links and rollers help shed debris in wet, sloppy conditions , which is where 12-speed drivetrains tend to complain first.... Read More
