Description
When a new group with new ideas springs on the scene and is immediately used with success in both XC world cup racing and Downhill it's no accident. Ligher, quieter, faster with plenty of gearting range makes it clear SRAM had a great combination of engineering and riding talent behind the careful development of XX1.
XX1 is about 200 grams lighter than the next lightest cross country group because there is no front derailleur, shifter or front cabling. Secondly, the chainring is engineered to retain the chain where chainrings on double and triple systems needs chainrings that allow chain movement. Because there is a reduced need to reel in chain slack, the rear derailleur can be designed for faster shifts and quiet performance with chain slap virtually eliminated.
A horizontal parallelogram design, pulley offset and large 12t X-Sync upper pulley all work to keep the chain gap constant across all 11 gears, providing fast, precise shifts. By limiting all movement to the horizontal axis, this design is faster, reduces shift force and eliminates ghost shifting.... Read More
