Description
Composite construction keeps the Time Xpresso Pedals light without the price jump to carbon fiber. At 115 grams per pedal, these sit comfortably in weight-conscious territory while the carbon-filled body maintains the stiffness needed for efficient power transfer. The steel axle and bearings handle durability, and the whole package delivers the same Iclic engagement system found across Time's road pedal lineup.
That Iclic mechanism works differently than spring-loaded competitors. The carbon blade spring holds the rear cleat retainer in an open position when your foot isn't engaged. Step down on the pedal and the retainer snaps closed around the cleat with a distinct click. You're not fighting spring tension on the way in, which makes clipping in noticeably easier, particularly useful for stoplight starts or when you're tired at the end of a long ride. The blade spring provides three tension settings via a small adjustment screw, letting you dial in release force to your preference.
Stack height measures 14.7mm from the pedal axle to the shoe sole, which keeps your foot close to the pedal center and improves pedaling efficiency. The 700mm² contact surface provides a stable platform, and Time's cleats distribute pressure across a wide area rather than concentrating it at small contact points. This larger platform combined with the float characteristics makes the Xpresso a solid choice for riders dealing with knee sensitivity.... Read More
