The Body Paint 3.0 is Castelli's latest incarnation of the seasonal Speed Suit. At first glance it would appear that the 3.0 is a simple adjoining of the Body Paint bibs and Aero Race jersey, but take a peek under the hood and you realize it's so much more.

Castelli broke out it's new go-to technology for building aero garments: Computational Fluid Dynamics. More commonly known as CFD modeling, this process helps compute air flow over surfaces defined by boundary conditions. The data that is gathered is then tested in a wind tunnel. The result is a skinsuit that is plain fast by virtue of its wind piercing qualities. The front on the suit has tight-weave Lycra while the back of the arms and upper back panel features aero-textured mesh. This combination gives the rider a slippery front profile with added ventilation and comfort in the rear. In this case, the textured mesh not only provides breathability and moisture wicking, but better disruption of airflow, so it is actually quicker than an entire Lycra suit. Think of it as an extension of your skin, except faster.

The Body Paint 3.0 Speed Suit employs the Progetto X2 chamois that, like the shorts, is designed to disappear beneath the rider. It has two distinct components. A skin care layer is bacteriostatic, soft, stretchy, seamless and is designed to prevent chafing. The cushioning layer features variable thickness with extra viscous padding beneath the sit bones and perineum.
