This 58cm Factor VAM Dura-Ace Di2 rim brake bike DEMO has been built by Excel Sports to best represent the performance and overall qualities of the incredible O2 VAM frameset design. It has clearly been ridden several times, but is in excellent condition and has been fully checked and tuned by our techs. It comes with a full warranty.

In addition to the R9150 Di2 rim brake groupset, this bike features Black Inc Thirty Wheels, as well as their integrated carbon bar-stem system and lightweight carbon seatpost. While disc road is now common in the peloton, rim brakes and wheel technology continues to advance as well. This is an lightweight all-rounder that rides like a dream, floats up mountains, and dares you to descend faster, with greater confidence.

For Factor, the frameset begins with superior research and development, then adds incredible knowledge and engineering throughout manufacture with premium grade carbon fiber construction. Enter the sub 650 gram O2 VAM (Velocita Ascensionale Media- average ascent velocity), rim brake frameset. Unlike many superlight road framesets, the VAM was not only built to climb, but to dominate descents and ride like a dream. The cockpit set-up is pro-style low friendly with a new headtube and headset top cap/spacer system. The frame is manufactured with an innovative carbon compaction process that distinguishes it from the standard O2. Pressurization greater than normal allows the engineers to wring excessive resin from the various base carbon materials, therefore making the carbon stronger, lighter and more efficient.

As with all VAM frames, the O2 VAM rim (direct mount caliper-type) was optimized with a strategic layup of mixed modulus carbon that helps further define and augment VAM'S decisive handling and riding characteristics. The materials list is impressive as well with Factor adding TeXtreme®, Nippon Graphite pitch fiber, and boron fiber to their secret sauce. The combination of fiber and materials used in with the new compaction process combine to deliver the lateral and torsional stiffness required to keep the frame efficient and a perfect platform for power transfer, while resulting in a solid and sure feel when descending or sprinting. Boron fiber is not new to cycling, as several frame manufacturers have used in superlight frames, but Factor has used it primarily to reduce weight while maintaining proper lateral stiffness in the seattube, with no compromise in ride quality.

The 54cm rim brake model bare frame weighs in at 640 grams, bare. Let that absorb for a second. The super light platform is a perfect choice for building a complete bike that destroys the UCI minimum weight limit, yet can still be ridden in all conditions and situations. Even the tapered rim brake fork received the VAM treatment. The fork was engineered around the caliper brake direct mount system, which allows the fork to be stiffer, stronger, lighter and more aero with better braking power, while offering room for 700x30mm tires. The essentially nude carbon, with the slight touches of a sharp red, looks raw, clean and light. This VAM frameset with both CeramicSpeed headset and bottom bracket, and the Danish company also equips the Black Inc hubs and freehubs with ceramic bearings as well. The clean and simple internal routing system is compatible and friendly with both mechanical and electronic shifting systems.

So much has been written and spoken about the supreme precision and reliability of the Shimano Dura-Ace R9150 Di2 electronic shifting system, it essentially speaks for itself. It delivers the most precise, informed shifts at the fastest speed. What else needs to be said? The sleek, ergonomic R9150 Di2 Dual Control levers offer superior feel and tactile response. The derailleurs are simply superb- while demonstrating durability over long years of use. With the exception of the CeramicSpeed Bottom Bracket, the entire group is Dura-Ace. The 172.5mm crankset is a 50-34, matched with an 11-30 cassette to provide great range, especially for high cadence climbers without sacrificing much flat and rolling terrain speed. The Di2 e-Tube system is fully internal, along with the seattube battery and handlebar end junction/charging port.

The impressively fast and light Black Inc Thirty rim brake Wheelset with it's 21mm internal, 30mm external tubeless compatible rim design, CeramicSpeed bearings, and road standard 100/130mm quick release axle spacing. The wheels feature a new rim brake track, and you get specific brake pads installed, as well as tubeless tape, valves, and lightweight but highly effective titanium quick release skewers. For rubber, 700x25mm Continental Grand Prix 5000 tires offer speed and low rolling resistance with remarkable all-around grip.

Cockpit creation on the VAM is simple. You get the UD carbon integrated Black Inc bar-stem, which is light, stiff, and incredibly well executed in every way once wrapped with Factor's tape. Black Inc also supplies the lightweight 27.2 round, 25mm setback carbon seatpost. It carries a compact length PRO Stealth saddle, in the 142mm width, and has a carbon shell with 7x9mm oval rails.
