The Fizik Antares is available in several build options with some models offering more cushion, a relief channel or widths. The Antares R5 Kium is essentially the standard Kium rail saddle as it was released. The medium density, moderately firm padding of the Antares, plus the wider tail, narrow throat and nose, make it an ideal model for riders with mid-width sit bones whose thighs prefer a clean, straight line to the pedals for minimal friction from the saddle. Unlike the Arione or Aliante, the Antares offers a more fixed seating position, though the rider can pull forward onto the flat-ish nose during those times when leveraged power is required for shorter time frames.

The shell is Fizik's strong and supportive composite glass, co-injected Nylon WingFlex construction. The slightly curved-edge profiles ease into the WingFlex side panels that offer some flex under the thighs for comfort without sacrificing bone structure support. The Kium alloy rails offer some flex and impact/vibration damping, but make no mistake, this is a firmer design. Opt for the VS or VSX versions for more padding and true relief channel. The cover is Fizik's Microtex, which has proven comfortable and durable in all conditions.
