We have a lot of high end bibs to choose from here at Excel Sports and the reaction is always the same when a staff member tries on a pair of the FormaRed Carbons for the first time. Sheer amazement as to how perfect they are. They serve up a tailored fit with just the right amount of compression, suspenders that offer support without being noticed and a superb three layer seat pad that has the correct length, width and variable thickness for support in all the right places. The FormaRed Carbon bib shorts make it clear to us that Giordana is a company that knows why they do what they do.

The FormaRed Carbon bibs are composed of many anatomically shaped panels that are connected using four needle, flat stitched seams. We'll explain. Normally you see a single needle with one spool of thread in a standard sewing machine. Imagine four spools in one machine that create a four thread flatlocking stitch. This is the basis of many serger stiches and provides a seam with exceptional stretch capacity for improved freedom of movement. This type of stitch also adds durability and reliability over a standard stitching methods. In addition, it's also a flat stitch which means exactly that. It lays flat for a more natural feel and added comfort.

The main panels of the FormaRed Carbons are constructed from Giordana's proprietary HC-44 Lycra. With this knitted fabric, it seems Giordana has found the optimal blend of compression and comfort. There's enough compression for increased performance through improved muscle support and blood flow, but it's still elastic enough so it won't choke your legs. The fabric is exceptionally lightweight and offers superb moisture management. The inner thigh panels use Zaffiro anti-abrasive fabric for added durability in an area that experiences heavy wear and friction from saddle contact. The ends of the legs feature soft and elastic Aerolite leg cuffs. These cuffs have silicone threads that offer perfect grip to keep the bibs in place and while snug, they will not strangle the your thighs.

The bib uppers have MicroQuad square-perforated bib straps which are thin, light and super elastic. They provide amble support and melt into body to feel like a second skin. There is a thin panel between the rear suspenders called Kite mesh. This hyper-vented fabric secures the rear straps and adds structure to the uppers for added comfort and support.

One of the most impressive features of the FormaRed is the Cirro OmniForm seat pad. We've tried many seat pads and chamois over the years and this is one of the best. The Cirro OF pad is fabricated in Giordana's Italian factory at low heat so they do not compromise material and fabric integrity. The Cirro is a three piece pad, each purpose driven. The top is a skin care layer that has Aloe Vera particles integrated into each thread during manufacturing. This allows for the ultimate in anti-bacterial protection and soothing relief during efforts on the bike. Below the top skin care layer is a 4mm waffled memory foam insert. The waffled pattern allows for heat dissipation and moisture movement. The bottom layer is made of a 8mm of open cell foam that has a smaller diameter than the layer above it and serves to support critical areas of your body. The very center of the pad is void of this open cell foam to provide the ultimate in prostate relief. The entire seat pad and all of its layers is highly elastic, so binding and chafing is practically non-existent. The Cirro OF pad is supportive and comfortable for all day affairs, but is also light and low profile leaving the rider with a very natural sensation between the body and saddle. Simply brilliant.
