HED's Ardennes wheel line-up is generally a vehicle for the aerodynamic wheel company's Plus 25mm rim designs. And rightfully so; but the 23mm rim hasn't gone away. With a 17mm internal width, cyclists can still opt for a 20-23mm wide tire, if that is their preference. HED also took the opportunity to reduce the overall weight of the wheelset, partially with the lighter weight rim, but also with a reduction in spoke weight with a proprietary bladed spoke. At 1315 grams for the set, the Ardennes Feather is built for speed, acceleration, responsiveness, and immaculate road manners. And who doesn't want a wheelset they can take home to meet the parents?

The C2 Aero rim technology is proven, even in the 23mm width. Speed and aerodynamics are nothing without the ability to handle wind at significant yaw angles, nor without the ability to handle with predictable steering and stability. The C2 delivers.

HED's own Sonic hubset is lightweight with surpising torsional stiffness under pedaling and cornering load. The oversized alloy axles and large bearings carry this load, and when mated in the rear to the 24 hole forged, high flange hub body, the overall effect exceeds expectations. With 12 offset bladed spokes on both sides, the lateral stiffness and responsiveness shine through The 18h front hub has minimal aero profile, and saves weight with alloy flanges can central carbon cylinder both of which house the oversized axles and bearings. The front straight pull bladed spokes are laced radial, at high tension, complementing the stiffness of the C2 rim design.

The Ardennes Feather Wheelset isn't for every rider or event. It carries a 190lb rider weight limit, which is still substantial for an 1315 gram alloy rim wheelset. The rider is also limited to 100psi max tire pressure. We see it as a climbing wheelset for race competition, or as an every day racing wheelset for riders under 190lbs. Remember alloy will fatigue with aggressive long-term use. But performance for the dollar and gram, with proven aerodynamics, exceptional all-conditions braking and handling, cannot be understated.
