Osmo Active has been developed to maximize the rate of fluid absorption into the body and uses only the highest quality natural ingredients. Olympic medalists, Tour de France riders, and pro triathletes know hydration is critical to top performance. That's why they've replaced their sponsors' drinks with Dr. Stacy Sims' hydration formulas for years. Once only available to professional athletes, now you can use the same premium drink as Peter Sagan.
Based on established, peer-reviewed science, Osmo Active is a during exercise drink and proven to be the most effective drink you can consume in terms of fluid absorption. The secret is a blend of sugars (sucrose and glucose) and sodium known to speed absorption with a solution that has an osmolality (or amount of solutes in a solution) which moves from lower solute concentrations (Osmo Active) to higher (the body). Other sport drinks with carbs or additional fuels have too high an osmolality to be easily absorbed causing bloating or sloshing. To avoid bloating and sloshing, Osmo suggests eating solid food for calories and Osmo Active (drinks) for hydration.
The benefits of maximized fluid absorption are many and include increased power output, improved endurance, better thermoregulation and reduced cramping. The sodium citrate in Osmo not only speed fluid uptake, it also balances electrolytes and wards off cramping. A side benefit of the citrate is it aids in cellular respiration keeping aerobic metabolism rev'ed and effectively working.
Seems pretty light in taste and sits well in my stomach. I have used it for about a month and it seems to sit very well with me.
Pros: Not heavy or tough on my stomach
I usually use Nuun but have been having some problems with cramping during intense indoor sessions so I gave Osmo a try at the recommendation of the customer service person I placed my order through and after all the hype they told me I was a bit disappointed as I still had problems with cramping. I also wasn't impressed with the tastes of Osmo; it was okay when cold but once it warmed up a bit it wasn't enjoyable to drink. I think I'll be sticking with nuun and save the extra money.
