The Drako may look like the previous top of the line Dragon III with a new buckle system, but it's actually a ground-up redesign. The obvious new feature is the Wire closure system, but the other new items are the redesigned SRS sole and complete Lorica perforated upper. The Drako is at the top of the food chain and the ultimate evolution of the Sidi shoe concept.
Wire closure system + perforated Lorica upper + Drako SRS sole = winner.
The Sidi Wire buckle system will draw obvious comparison to the BOA closure system due to similar design features. However upon close inspection, you will find they are quite different. There are two independent buckle closure systems in the Wire design. The lower is the Techno 3 buckle. It offers closure and release to the instep and fore foot. Independently, the top buckle provides closure to the very top of the shoe with a Wire-style buckle and Sidi's Soft Instep closure flap. Two buckles that allow you to vary the diameter and pressure you want on and around your foot. The micro buckles Sidi uses are light, low-profile and durable.
For the sole of the shoe, Sidi managed to shave off 50 grams of weight per shoe, while maintaining the same stiffness. This carbon lay-up provides a slight amount of flex in the forefoot for a smoother, more natural running gait without compromising stiffness for power transfer to the pedals. As with all SRS soles, the grippy tread is replaceable to add longevity to shoe's life span. Along the lines of shoe life, a replaceable cleat wear plate has been added to repair this high-wear area due to shoe-pedal interface.
The shoe upper is constructed from durable Lorica which is a synthesized leather-poly hybrid. It has the Sidi Vernice (ver-knee'-chay) sheen finish which adds durability and helps keep the shoe clean. The Vernice finish is hand-washable. The upper is perforated while the tongue has two screen vents for breathability. The heel cup is molded for support and features Sidi's adjustable HSS Heel Security System for total heel lockdown.
OMG!! THEEEE best shoe i've ever placed my foot in. I have flat feet is the reason i went with the Sidi Drako. Completly adjustable down to the heel cup. Nice touch guys. Plus there are so many parts that can be replaced as they wear to keep the shoe new. Quality construction.......No issues!
Pros: Infinite adjustments
Cons: Little pricey, but once their on...aahh!
