The Garmin Edge 810 delivers navigation and advanced training in one device. The major advance over the Edge 800 is the 810's connected features through your smartphone, including live tracking, social media sharing and live weather alerts/updates. Just pair the 810 with your smartphone (Apple® or Android) using the Garmin Connect Mobile app. This allows you to gain comprehensive, accurate ride data from a dedicated device, while saving your phone battery.
Edge 810 tracks the data and sends it to your phone using a wireless Bluetooth connection. You can stay connected and share all the details of your ride with friends, family and your social media contacts. You can post an update immediately after your ride or race with details from your completed activity. You'll create your posts via your smartphone, and the ride data's already there, thanks to the interface with Garmin Connect Mobile.
The heart of the Edge 810 is its touch screen and ability to display detailed maps. You can switch training pages or pan and zoom with a tap. The touch screen is a resistive type so it will work with a gloved hand (unlike your smartphone), is waterproof and durable enough to withstand the tough conditions of mountain biking. It is bright enough to easily be read on a sunny day.
Base maps are included and the bundle includes detailed road maps of the US, Canada and Puerto Rico. Detailed topo maps and maps of other regions can be added with a data card. The Edge 810 can provide turn-by-turn navigation prompts and locate a gas station or convenience store if you are close to bonking. Because it's GPS-enabled, Edge 810 provides accurate data and navigation capabilities, anywhere in the world.
The Edge 810 tracks large amount of ride data (including speed, time, cadence, heart rate, altitude, temperature, distance etc.) which lets you customized up to three training pages. Power data in watts can be recorded from a third party ANT+ power meter. Ride maps can be downloaded to see where you have been and uploaded for finding great routes in unfamiliar locations.
