Gabba is the word that has been rolling off the lips of many professional riders since its inception back in 2009. Originally designed for the Cervelo Test Team as an aerodynamic cold and wet weather garment, it has been a top seller for Castelli due to the fact it works so well in so many conditions and the price in still within reach of many riders. The Gabba WS Long Sleeve Jersey is one of the most popular Gabba products we sell.
During development, Castelli's R&D department partnered with the Cervelo Test Team riders and Gore engineers to develop a proprietary Windstopper X-Lite Plus fabric. It offers a breathable and lightweight garment that features total wind protection with a water-repellent finish. When Gabba was first introduced to the market, many thought of it as a pure wet weather piece. The fact is, it is a protection garment that excels in many different conditions, be it cold, damp, wet or windy. This makes it the near perfect choice for any adverse or inclement weather condition. The Gabba will handle cold winds, wet road spray and straight up downpour. Another interesting note is that being bred by racers, the Gabba is one of the most aerodynamic products that Castelli sells and to that, it features a close to the body fit. There is no gathering or bunching of material, but a form fitting, tailored fit.
The front and rear panels for the Gabba LS Jersey use the 4-way stretch Gore Windstopper X-Lite Plus. This keeps the elements at bay with wind and water proofing while providing breathability and great aerodynamics. For added perspiration relief, Nanoflex is used under the arms. And as with all Nanoflex, the Thermoflex core provides plenty of warmth, while the Nanoflex coating acts as a wind and water barrier. Nanoflex is also water resistant due to the microfilament grouping. Like the Windstopper X-Lite Plus, water rolls right off the fabric.
This WS Long Sleeve jersey is one of the most popular Gabba garments we sell due to it's versatility and weight. It falls somewhere between a jacket and provides solid protection from the elements and makes for a great 3 season garment. The sleeves are slightly long (how we prefer our long sleeve jerseys) and there is a handy extension on the bottom rear cuff of the jersey that acts as a built in fender for when you are riding on wet roads. When not in use, it simply tucks away.
In summary, the Gabba is perfect for any riding conditions with temperatures ranging from 35-65° depending on how you layer. Dry, wet, cold or windy is the problem, Gabba is the solution. Pro rider favorite to Excel staff favorite, once worn, it is hard to be a 3 season rider without one of these in your arsenal.
Castelli Gabba is part of their Aero Race line of clothing, so you should expect an aerodynamic and very snug fit. Do not expect a relaxed club fit, unless you upsize the garment.
