PowerBar Gel Box of 24
Powerbar's Powergels were the first gels to hit the market and are still wildly popular amongst many cyclists and multi sports athletes. They are essentially a concentrated carbohydrate gel designed to provide athletes with immediate energy during intense athletic activity. It is an excellent source of fast fuel.
PowerBar Energy Gel is formulated with PowerBar® C2MAX dual source energy blend, a 2:1 glucose to fructose blend found to deliver 20-50% more energy to muscles than glucose alone and improve endurance performance by 8%. PowerBar Energy gels contain 200mg sodium - a key electrolyte lost in sweat that is associated with muscle cramping in some athletes.
Easy tear packaging makes access to the gel while riding a snap. The packaging is also durable to prevent leakage in your jersey pocket.
Both caffeinated and non-caffeinated flavors are available. Berry blast Green Apple, Chocolate and Strawberry Banana deliver 25 mg of caffeine (equivalent to 8 oz. of a cola drink); Double Latte and Tangerine are double-caffeinated to deliver 50 mg caffeine (equal to about one half cup of coffee or 1 ounce of espresso) for the times you need double the boost. Raspberry Cream, Kona Punch and Vanilla have no added caffeine.
- Provides more energy to muscles with C2MAX
- Contains four times the sodium of leading competitors
- No preservatives or artificial flavors
- Easy tear packaging
- Choose 1x, 2x or non-caffeinated flavors
- All the electrolytes of a sport drink
- Speeds energy to muscles

I have to vouch for power bar gels, they are much improved over years' past indeed. The taste is better, and is less-gooey going down, in fact they're easier going down then many of the other choices out there -- I also use them. And yes, this gel does provide for energy sustainability on longer rides -- just take with water, and also use a powder mix energy drink as well.
Pros lower price
Cons none really

I used to use GU all the time (and still do sometimes), but actually now I find powerbar gels to go down even easier, and yes, they do the same thing when it comes to fueling you up and keeping you going on long rides.

Taken in advance of a ride definitely ensures a more well balanced and sustained energy level. Take with water it's easy on the belly and goes down easy. Compared to other more expensive gels, this gel does the same thing, but for less!
Pros Good source of stamina-power in a packet.
