This is the tire that started it all for Continental, at least the latest iteration of it. Gone is the natural rubber compound and brown cloth sidewall for added durability and performance. In their place, you get the famed Black Chili compound and a rubber coated 330tpi casing.

The Black Chili compound allows the tire to mold to uneven road surfaces and provides longer tire life and lower rolling resistance with the aid of the small carbon particles incorporated into the tread. Conti inserted a protective belt under the tread called Poly-X. This puncture protection strip is made of super strong and extremely lightweight material which helps protect the casing and tube from road shrapnel.

The 23mm width profile of the Grand Prix folding offers a good size contact patch and adhesion. 23mm of rubber spread out on the ground also increases wear life and gives more grip when force is applied to the tire.
