The Northwave Hammer SRS shoe has many of the features of the flagship models at a price that won't break the bank. Designers at Northwave use Biomap technology where the uppers, soles and other components are anatomically compatible to a wide range of foot shapes to keep the foot in the correct position while pedaling for the most efficient power transfer. By keeping the foot in the correct position, all the muscles of the leg can work at their greatest efficiency.
A Speedlight 3D sole consists of a nylon chassis is filled with fiberglass and co-injected to the outer polished TPU shell. Rubber treads molded into the sole help to increase traction and reduce weight. Heel support is optimized thanks to unibody construction of the uppers that allows an internal support system to provide an efficient heel retention system located inside the structure without the need of external elements - same efficiency but with reduced weight.
Northwave microinjects typical wear points of the upper including the toe, inside ball and just outside the little toe for extra durability and protection with virtually no weight penalty. The upper has a minimum of seams to reduce pressure points. The are two offset Velcro closures and a ratcheting buckle for comfortable yet secure closure pressure.
