The Hot Pack Ultralight Jacket sets the standard for lightweight protection. What you get is a storm jacket that offers complete water and wind protection that weighs in at a scant 50 grams. The low volume fabric makes for a tiny profile when rolled up. It's the ultimate in ultralight, packable protection.
Sportful developed the revolutionary 7 denier fabric specifically for the Hot Pack Ultralight. The yarn is super thin and tightly woven, then coated with Superleggera DWR water repellency treatment. The result is personal protection with unparalleled weight and size for its category. Sportful designers made sure the jacket has an exacting anatomic fit. This helps ensure there will be no flapping and gathering of material. The rear pocket and side vents are all laser cut. Added elastic trim helps further increases protection from the elements. The rear pocket also doubles as a compression pocket in which the jacket can be rolled into for storage.
We have yet to find so much protection in such a small, light and tight package. The profile is so small, there is almost no reason not to carry it with every ride. When completely rolled up, it takes practically no room up in your jersey pocket. Sportful wisely choose a slight off-grey color which hides dirt and debris after a spin in nasty weather. The Hot Pack Ultralight is a complete winner by any cyclist's standards and an instant staff favorite.
Just having this in my pocket makes me bolder and willing to go farther into the teeth of the black clouds. I've used this now on two rainy rides and it's solid awesome protection when it turns suddenly cold and ugly, then it rolls back up into a pack of smokes again if the weather clears. It's well marked with asymmetric red strips which are a real help when you are pulling it on at the front of the charging peloton since a jacket this light has no real structure and flaps a lot as you don it. Once on, the fit is full race and there is minimal flapping. A bit expensive, but worth the price with its lightweight and versatility and packability.
Pros: packs lots of protection in a small bundle
