The Poggio is another garment that tends to blur the line between light jacket and thermal jersey. By definition, it is a lightly insulated jacket that features Gore's Windstopper X-Lite stretch fabric for proper protection from the wind and elements. The lightweight and low volume construction makes it perfect for the 40-60° sweet spot of 3 season cycling. This garment is also part of Castelli's Rosso Corsa product line because the designer's felt the Poggio represents a breakthrough in technology in its category. The breakthrough here being a jacket that provides solid protection and warmth in the 40-60° temperature range, while being super low volume and weighting in a scant 298 grams (size medium).
The design uses a simple and familiar approach from Castelli. Gore Windstopper X-Lite front panels protects you from oncoming weather and cold air. The rear panels are lightly fleeced and ventilated to provide moisture control in the rear of the jacket by letting perspiration escape out of the rear panels. This business in the front, party in the rear design executes perfectly with every ride.
The flip top collar is fabricated from Castelli's proprietary Thermoflex fabric, whose super-stretch and fleece lined construction is comfy and warm. The full length YKK Camlock zipper is high quality and functions effortlessly. Storage is taken care of with three large rear pockets. Thermoflex elastic wrist cuffs and a StayFast rear elastic band prevents cold air and the elements from entering.
The many panels that make up the Poggio are all anatomically cut and when sewn together form a perfectly fitted, bespoken-like garment. A proper fit is essential for the product to work as expected. There will be no bunching or gathering of excess materials. The Poggio will also be void of tight spots and pulling in action quadrants of the jacket. Lightweight, simple and advanced design make this an all-day winner in its category.
