The mongoose or il mangusta in Italian, is the Assos mascot and in its honor comes the SS.mangusta jersey. Plenty of focus went into moisture management through wicking perspiration and ventilation. If you can master these two things, then true body temp regulation can be achieved. Type 151 fabric was borrowed from the Mille jersey for this purpose. Beyond regulating body temp, it is soft, comfortable and provides UV protection.
Full zipper front adds another way of regulating body temp. 3 pockets and an additional zipper pocket take care of storage. The bottom back of the jersey has the familiar elastic hem. Assos's AEPD anatomical cut is designed to fit while riding or assuming the cycling position. It is a relatively simple concept that makes all the difference.

I have been using Assos gear since the 1980s. Other brands used include PI, Santini, Giordana, Castelli, Shaversport.
I am 5-11, 170 lbs, and wear a 42 inch sports coat. I got the XL, in blue. The fit is tight -- every inch clings to my torso like a wet paper towel. The SS.mangusta S7 is well constructed, and has a tailored fit. I would say it is heavy on design, light on content, meaning it is much lighter than any other jersey I own (5oz or 142g on my food scale). About $42/oz! Different textiles are used for different panels, all of which are stretchy and quite porous -- this is a jersey for hot weather. The fabric used for the front panels looks and feels fragile, like it will easily catch and tear. I plan to wash as a delicate. Color is bright (sky blue). Graphics are bold and look cool. Hope it lasts because it feels good but also kinda flimsy.
The Mangusta is a staff favorite and will last many seasons if properly cared for - ed
Pros: tailored fit, good looks, high on function
Cons: expensive, fragile fabrics, needs special care
Just FYI, Assos claims the fit of this jersey is between the SS.Uno and SS.Mille and ideal for athletic builds or "larger body types." I would say the fit is MUCH closer to the Uno than the Mille (I own both). Awesome, like all Assos clothing though.
