Clothing    Jackets & Vests - Mens

The Sottile Due jacket is made of lightweight, semi-transparent material and folds to a size small enough to fit in half a jersey pocket. It has a sleek performance fit and is made with water resistant, wind resistant breathable fabric plus some mesh at the underarms for breathability. Classically a racer's staple due to its lightweight and packability, you can also make your team jersey and race number be seen through the transparent fabric. An Excel Sports staff favorite.

Unlike the race capes of old which were basically plastic with some mesh, this modern version uses a light stretchy fabric with underarm mesh inserts to aid breathability and make it fit comfortably. Then Castelli made all the details just right, from the high collar to the zippered pocket opening for easy access to a jersey pocket.

Features

  • Lightweight, breathable and wind resistant
  • Stretch fabric for great fit
  • 10,000mm water column fabric for rain protection
  • Zipped side opening for pocket access
  • Mesh side panel for breathability
  • Rear reflective tabs keep you visible in low-light conditions
  • We have found the Sottile Jackets run small. We suggest ordering the larger size if between sizes

Bought this last week as a packable emergency rain shell for use on warm rides (replacing classic PVC rain cape), and it met the mark today on a 70F ride with a cold front approaching. I tried using it early-on during some sprinkles, but found it way too hot for even a mile (65-70F, worn over a jersey and summer base layer shirt), and put it back in my pocket. The front hit ~3hrs later, dropping the temp from 70 to the mid 50's and pitting me against rain/hail and a 30mph headwind for the final 5 miles. The superlight jacket covered this stretch as advertised, blocking the wind and keeping the chill at bay to get me home. While no wind and only a little water penetrated, the ultralight fabric did cling to me and feel a bit clammy. It packs very, very small, as advertised, taking about 1/2 of a jersey pocket.

    Pros: Packable, windproof, water resistant

Cons: Limited breathability, much more $ than rain cape
