Although lightweight, the Arch EX can handle aggressive trail riding. It is a touch heavier than the cross-country benchmark Stan's NoTubes Crest wheels and a notch or two stronger. The internal arch design provides durability and stiffness, two assets especially important for heavier riders or any riders known to be hard on wheels. It is quite possibly the best wheel for hard cross country, Enduro or All Mountain use.
Stan's rims employ bead socket technology. BST marks a huge step forward in tubeless technology, allowing for lighter rims, lower sidewall heights, improved durability, increased traction, and decreased chances of pinch flatting. Seating tubeless tires on a BST rim is about as easy as it gets. BST rims allow the bead to properly lock into the rim for the best quality airtight seal. The bead/rim interaction is superior even with an inner tube. The low-profile shape of BST rims makes them lighter for less rotational mass for weight saving where it matters most. BST allows the tire to expand to full size so you can run lower pressure with less pinch flats and your tire functions more efficiently for better cornering, traction and reduced rolling resistance.
The 3.30 disc hub combine simultaneously engaging pawls with a 30-tooth ratchet ring for rapid 12-degree engagement and excellent durability. Taller hub flanges make for a stiffer, stronger all around wheel. Spokes are 2.0/1.7 black stainless with silver alloy nipples. Weight of the 29" is 1775 g for the set or 945g for the rear. 27.5" is 1685g for the set and 900g for the rear.
