Deda is the company that pioneered the oversize diameter handlebars and stem movement which has now become the industry standard. Technically, they refer to their stems as 31.7mm because they choose to measure them differently, but fret not, they are perfectly compatible with all 31.8mm handlebars.
The Zero 100 is Deda's top offering in a standard alloy stem and offers a good balance of lightweight and stiffness. They achieve this by the now-popular method of using 3D net forging with 2014 series aluminum that has been heat treated. The 3D net forging process yields superb stiffness and durability while bringing the product in at a low weight. Far lighter and stronger than the previous methods of CNC'ing 7000 series alloys. With several manufacturers now producing stem using this procedure, Deda added a few design features that separate them from the competition.
The shaft if the stem is 3D net forged, but then ovalized to add stiffness. The idea is the oval profile is torsionally stronger than a round stem shaft. The front of the stem and faceplate is relieved at the sides for further weight reduction, while still keeping it wide enough for proper stress reduction on the handlebars. The stem is shot-peened, then anodized for added durability.
The logo graphics clearly make a statement that you are using a Deda product, which in turn means you have selected a quality product that is still manufactered in Italy, not the Far East. Clearly another great design from one of the leaders in the modern stem design.
The Zero 100 is offered in 82° rise with 31.8mm bar clamp diameter. Choose your length.
