Developed and used by the Mavic Pro riders, the Mavic Zxellium Ultimate road shoe takes the super successful Zxellium and improves power transfer, reduces weight and increases comfort thanks to the reinforced Carbon Frame combined with a new closer fitting Ergo Heel and Ergo Lite Upper. It has a very thin 5.5mm full carbon sole to provide stiffness and a low 7mm stack height to be as close to the pedal spindle as possible for efficient power transfer.
The new closer fitting carbon Energy Lock heel holder keeps the heel in place and is 50% lighter than molded heel cup. An energy frame surrounds the foot in a no-flex cage for optimal power transfer during the upstroke while Mavic's lightest and stiffest full carbon SLR sole delivers the power on the down stroke. There is a textured section to keep the cleat from slipping as well as toe and heel pads to protect the sole when walking.
The Zxellium has three straps. One is a lightweight ratcheting design for exact tension. Two Ergo straps are adjustable to allow full contact with the Velcro pad and provide better airflow and ventilation. Comfort is provided by the Ergo fit system including elastomer inserts under the heel and metatarsal. Mavic road shoes have enjoyed a lot of popularity because all the features work to provide a light, stiff shoe that fits better than some well-established brands.
