Description

The SID XX Fork sits just below the World Cup XX Fork in the RockShox pecking order. From a technical standpoint, the only real difference in the forks is that the XX has a forged, hollow, AL66 aluminum steerer instead of the BlackBox carbon version found on the World Cup. The XX series was developed to meet and exceed needs of XC racers first and foremost, and if you have to sacrifice a little weight to get the same exceptional technology and performance to save a little money, many riders can live with that. The benefits racers receive from the intense development can also be enjoyed by short travel trail riders who crave light weight, speed, exacting performance and ultimate predictability. The pure engineering and exceptionally high quality that RockShox is known for have set the standard for high-performance XC race forks since the first days of suspension in mountain biking.

Today's racing products must lead the industry in technology, engineering, and performance. The 32mm Fast Black stanchions have been Low Friction anodized for exceptionally smooth action, and are resilient to scratching and impacts that degrade stanchion performance. Magnesium lowers feature a carbon fiber Power Bulge, which enhance stiffness and performance through the use of a larger bushing. This gives you torsional stiffness with minimal additional weight. The lowers also give your disc brake interface the stiffer and more direct post mount, while the tool-free Maxle Lite 15mm front hub interface keeps with the stiffness theme. The integrated design process engineers all of these features to be used in concert with each other to deliver the desired predictability and exactness that XC racers demand.

Handling the damping process is Motion Control DNA. As with the World Cup, this process on SID XX is controlled the high-end Dig valve and Rapid Recovery system. The XX Motion Control DNA damper features RockShox's XLoc hydraulic remote lockout for the lightest, most precise and optimally controlled remote response. The Dig valve controls the rebound piston through oil flow, providing the optimal management level for high and low speed compression, which enables the use of Rapid Recovery, which allows the shock to recover faster between consecutive bumps, allowing the front wheel to track over the ground with greater precision for traction and rider control.

In less techy terminology, Motion Control DNA is a more active, inherently precise suspension system that is ideal for XC racing and fast trail riding because it doesn't pack up or hesitate through travel responses. This enables the fork to perform in a higher and softer part of the spring rate, fully utilizing the 100mm travel range in all conditions. Rapid Recovery gives the rider access to more available wheel travel, bump after bump, to achieve a smoother and more controlled ride.

The SID XX features a Solo Air system that you to add air through a single Schrader valve, filling both the positive and negative air spring chambers simultaneously. Solo Air keeps them both in perfect equilibrium, that ensures a plush, predictable ride you can precisely tune in less than a minute. This is the lightest weight air spring system on the market, and it's precise delivery is the key to maximizing the other technologies employed in the fork. The SID XX stands proudly by it's World Cup sibling. You can't go wrong either way, but if you want incredible XC performance in a short travel fork, and have a tight budget, the SID XX is a great option.
