Sitting at the peak of SRAM's mountain drivetrains, the XX1 Eagle has dominated XC trail and racing since it's release. How could it be improved? Well, SRAM developed the eTap AXS™ Electronic shifting system, the second generation eTap that utilizes Bluetooth technology and your smartphone to better manage, maintain and set-up your wireless protocol. By bringing eTap AXS to Eagle with the XX1 series components, SRAM has created an impressively light, simple, and ultra efficient mountain bike drivetrain that truly exceeds expectations. The Eagle AXS system's electronic components are also fully compatible with the road Red and Force AXS versions as well, so a drop bar monster gravel bike with a mountain bike drivetrain is truly feasible, as is a minimalist MTB short track XC weapon with a road rear derailleur and more compact cassette. Game on.

This group in a box contains the XX1 Eagle AXS Controller (shifter) and Rear Derailleur, along with DUB equipped Eagle crankset, cassette and Eagle 12 chain. Yes, you get the battery and charger you need for the rear derailleur. You manage the AXS (think "Access") through the smartphone app. No wires, no modules ,just simple and direct, easy to install and use. This groupset offers crank width (standard and Boost) options as well as ring and arm length options. The 10-50 XG-1295 Eagle Cassette, AXS Rear Derailleur and Shifter are all standard, along with the Eagle 12 chain.

SRAM did make changes to the XX1 AXS Rear Derailleur versus the mechanical, It features a shorter cage for 10mm more ground clearance, with more chain wrap on the cassette to sit slightly further forward, and further inboard from mechanical Eagle. The Eagle AXS derailleur is smart enough to protect itself thanks to its incredibly resilient Overload Clutch, yet light at 351 grams. In the event of an impact, the motor gearbox disengages, giving the derailleur freedom to move, and instantly returns back to its position for a seamless experience for the rider. The system is tested to IP69K water and dust proofing standard for creek crossings, mud splatters and the resulting post-ride pressure washings. The XC/Trail ready derailleur has a carbon cage and ti hardware, and is designed to work with solely with SRAM X-Dome Eagle cassettes, providing the most precise, silent, and reliable shift performance available.

The cassette is the same awesome 355 gram X-Dome XG-1299 10-50 version developed for Eagle 12 mechanical. This an XD driver compatible cassette with all the SRAM Eagle tech, such as X-Glide 2 tooth profiling and physical shifting characteristics, along with X-Dome architecture- SRAM's cassette manufacturing technology provides the greatest durability and lightest weight possible and a Ti Nitride finish increases durability and reduces friction. Unlike road AXS, the Eagle uses the Flow Link 12-speed chain, at the XX1 level, at 265 grams. The Hard Chrome finish is ultra durable, while the shaped, varying thickness inner walls of the plates mesh perfectly with X-Glide cogs and chainring teeth for excellent retention and smooth, fast rear shifts.

The XX1 Eagle DUB SL cranksarm set is SRAM's best and lightest, optimized for XC with DUB spindle and BB technology. The re-engineered design employs proprietary Carbon Tuned lay-up technology, and is built to handle standard XC trail conditions. The Direct Mount X-Sync 2 chainring provides significantly quieter performance, with better mud clearing, retention and extraordinary durability. Given the variety of frame designs, the groupset does not provide a bottom bracket, you just need to purchase the proper DUB version for your frame. A 175mm, 34T crankarm set with ring weighs in at just 426 grams.

As simple, compact, and light (70 grams) as it is, the XX1 Eagle AXS Controller (shifter) is perhaps the most amazing component of the groupset. The pure shifting performance of Eagle AXS™ is the real difference maker. Shift under load, over the roughest terrain, uphill, without changing your grip on the bar. Eagle AXS changes your level of control on the bike when you’re under pressure and pushing hard into the red. But more than that, it changes your relationship with the bike. No cable, housing or wires to manage opened up design and engineering possibilities with the Eagle AXS controller. The ergonomic touchpoints are totally customizable to your preferences, allowing you to customize the inboard and outboard shifter does through the AXS App. The system is completely water and dust proof with its IP69K rating. The mount is designed for the SRAM Matchmaker X system. Your AXS enabled componentry software makes it possible to both program and personalize new SRAM and RockShox components such as fork, shock, and Reverb AXS equipped models.
