This DEMO wheelset was built by Excel Sports as a custom order then was used only in a photo shoot. It is considered brand new and carries all standard warranty protection.

Save on this Excel Sports built wheelset featuring Shimano XTR M9010 thru-axle Center Lock disc hubset laced to 32 hole 29" Stan's NoTubes Arch MK3 rims. DT Swiss supplies their Competition double butted 14-15 steel j-bend black spokes and the excellent alloy ProLock black nipples. The lacing is 2x all-around.

The XTR hubset features a 15/100mm thru-axle front and a 12/142mm rear. The rear hub has the standard XTR titanium freehub. Engagement is spot-on, with the 36 point pawl system that delivers rapid reaction, as well as precision for slow-speed technical riding. Shimano believes strongly in exceptionally high quality steel bearings, seals, and it's cup and cone design. This angular contact system reduces potential friction from side and lateral loads on the axle that parallel surface sealed cartridge bearings are simply forced to battle. Shimano believes this system is the best way to handle this stress while maintaining speed, and reducing unnecessary bearing and race wear. The engineers can show you the data, but proof is in the feel when riding, and in the sheer lack of hub issues and service beyond simple cleaning and lubing. With the oversized alloy axle design the engineers reduced as much weight as possible in the bearing system.

The Stan&s NoTubes#39;engineers built the 29"Arch MK3 with a proprietary alloy; 6069 aluminum. Light, easier to form, and offering incredible strength per weight in structural forms, the alloy enabled serious design capabilities in such a thin wall aluminum rim. NoTubes combined their short Bead Socket Technology (BST), the essential Arch shape, and WideRight design to develop a very shallow profile rim, at just 16mm. With the 26mm internal width, the external width sits at 29.3mm. The 29er rim comes in just over 450 grams, an astonishing weight for a wide rim, but just as we see with frame design, width and "oversized" structural forms have been proven quite capable. There is a rider weight limit of 230lbs, which will certainly carry the vast majority of trail riders.

NoTubes rims are known as the premier tubeless rim system on the market. BST creates a ideal seal with with most tubeless ready tires when used with NT tubeless tape and proper sealant. The Arch MK3 rim requires NoTubes 27mm rim tape and you are recommended to use the Stan's 35mm Valve Stem with this shallow profile design.
