CORE Medium is the insulated softshell Assos uses in the sleeves of its GT Winter Jacket S11, and it is the same textile that forms the body of the Ultraz Winter Booties P1.
It breathes, sheds water, and erases wind chill
— the three things that decide whether your feet stay functional once the air drops toward freezing.
Assos rates these overshoes from -8°C to +3°C and files them under cold riding conditions
, which works out to 17.6°F to 37.4°F and puts them at the deep end of the winter range.
The leading edge of the foot takes the worst of a winter ride: road spray off the front wheel, tire fling from whoever is ahead of you, and the wind you generate yourself.
That is where a second layer of coated WATERSHIELD sits, doubling the insulation across the forefoot and creating a waterproof seal where protection matters most.
The fabric list tracks that layering —
a main fabric of 52% polyester, 36% polyamide and 12% elastane, a 90% polyamide front external face, and a 65% polyester, 35% polyurethane reinforcement at the front
, which is where the toe scuffs against pavement when you push off at a light.
Assos publishes performance ratings for its winter pieces, and the Ultraz Winter Booties P1 land at
5/5 for insulation, 5/5 for windproofing, 4/5 for waterproofing and 2/5 for breathability, with a regular fit
. That breathability number is the honest one, and it tells you where these belong: freezing rain, salted roads, and fat bike outings across snow, not a 50°F spin where you would cook. The regular fit leaves room for a thick winter sock underneath without stretching the cover tight over the shoe.... Read More
Sizing follows the Roman numeral system mapped to EU shoe size, so size to the shoe you intend to pull them over rather than to your street shoe. The colorway is blackSeries, which lines up with the rest of the winter kit, and
the booties carry a 2-year warranty
.
Assos also backs its products with a crash replacement scheme.
If you already run the Ultraz Winter Socks P1, the two are built as a system — insulation working from both sides of the shoe.
