Description

Boeing developed T-9 in the 1980s to prevent corrosion on aircraft components exposed to salt air and moisture. The formula uses solvent carriers to penetrate deep into metal surfaces, carrying paraffin wax into crevices and tight spaces. Once the solvents evaporate over 4 to 24 hours, the wax stays behind as a waterproof barrier that won't wash off in rain or mud. This makes it useful for bike chains, cables, and frame tubes where you need protection that endures through wet conditions without reapplication after every ride.

The aerosol format lets you spray T-9 into places you can't reach with a drip bottle, like inside frame tubes, around cable housing entry points, or into derailleur pivots. You can apply it two ways depending on what you need. For light lubrication on chains or moving parts, spray it on and wipe off the excess after a few minutes. The thin film reduces friction while protecting against rust. For long-term storage or maximum corrosion protection, spray it on thicker and let it set without wiping. The wax coating builds up to provide months of protection.

T-9 doesn't contain Teflon, silicone, fluorocarbons, MEK, or acetone, so it won't damage paint, plastic, vinyl, or carbon fiber. It works on all metals including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, brass, and copper. The formula dissolves minor surface rust as it penetrates, which is handy for bringing old components back to working condition. Once dry, it doesn't attract dust or dirt the way wet lubes do, and you can rinse debris off with water without removing the protective coating. The aerosol uses CO2 as propellant rather than VOCs.

Features

  • Solvent-carried paraffin wax formula developed by Boeing for aircraft corrosion protection
  • Penetrates deeply into metal crevices and assembled components

  • Drying time ranges from minutes for thin applications to 4-24 hours for thick coatings
  • Displaces moisture and dissolves minor surface rust during application
  • Safe on paint, plastic, vinyl, fiberglass, and carbon fiber
  • Works on all metals including aluminum, steel, stainless steel, brass, and copper
  • Does not contain Teflon, silicone, fluorocarbons, MEK, or acetone
  • CO2 propellant complies with California Prop 65 VOC regulations
  • Aerosol format reaches inaccessible areas inside frames and components
  • Effective temperature range 32-150 degrees Fahrenheit
