Description

Centerlock and AFS sound like competing standards until you realize Campagnolo just gave their own name to the same splined hub interface everyone else uses. The AFS 03 Disc Brake Rotor mounts with any standard Centerlock lockring tool, which means you don't need Campagnolo-specific equipment to install or swap these rotors. That interoperability extends to the brake system side as well: the 03 rotor works with every Campagnolo hydraulic disc caliper regardless of groupset generation, so whether you're running older 11-speed Chorus, 12-speed Record, or the new Super Record 13 wireless system, these rotors bolt up without compatibility headaches.

The two-piece floating design addresses what happens when rotors get hot during sustained braking. Single-piece rotors expand uniformly from the center outward, which can warp the braking surface and cause rubbing between stops. Separating the aluminum spider from the steel braking track lets the outer ring expand independently without distorting the mounting interface or transferring excessive heat into your hub bearings. The rivets connecting the two pieces sit outside where your pads actually contact the steel, so they never become localized hot spots that translate to pulsing at the lever when you're dragging brakes down a mountain pass.

Directional machining slots in the steel braking surface help channel heat away from the friction zone. The pattern promotes airflow across the rotor face, which accelerates cooling between braking events and helps maintain consistent lever feel throughout long descents. The aluminum spider contributes to this thermal management by conducting heat away from the hub interface more efficiently than an all-steel design would allow.... Read More
