Description
Blade tension on LOOK Keo pedals gets set at the factory, but the carbon leaf spring that controls retention can shift over time or after heavy use. The LOOK Blade Carbon Pedal Axle Assembly Tool provides the specific interface needed to remove and reinstall the axle assembly during blade replacement or pedal servicing. Without this tool, accessing the internal components means risking damage to the composite body or improper reassembly that affects retention consistency.
The tool works with LOOK's current integrated-blade Keo pedals, where the carbon leaf spring sits inside the pedal body rather than mounted externally. This covers the Keo Blade Carbon, Keo Blade Carbon Ceramic, and Keo Blade Carbon Ceramic Ti models across multiple model years. If you're running the older external-blade design from around 2010 where the carbon blade was visible on top of the pedal, this tool doesn't apply to your setup—those pedals use a different internal architecture entirely.
The practical use case here is blade replacement. LOOK sells blade kits in different tension ratings, and swapping to a stiffer or softer blade changes how much force you need to clip out. That swap requires axle removal, which is where this tool comes in. You're not going to need it for routine maintenance or cleat changes, but if you're servicing pedals yourself rather than sending them back to LOOK, having the correct tool prevents the improvised-solution damage that usually follows....
