Description

The Campagnolo Chorus 11-speed cassette uses the same Ultra-Shift tooth profile technology found in Record and Super Record. Every tooth is shaped and positioned to work with Campagnolo's 11-speed chains, producing shifts that are fast, quiet, and predictable under load. The difference between Chorus and its more expensive siblings comes down to materials: all eleven sprockets here are nickel-chrome plated steel rather than a mix of steel and titanium. That adds some weight but significantly increases durability—steel simply outlasts titanium in this application.

The cassette construction uses a combination of individual cogs and carriers. The six largest sprockets mount to aluminum carriers in two groups of three, which reduces overall weight while increasing torsional stiffness. Stiffer carriers mean the cogs stay in precise alignment during shifts, which matters when you're putting power down out of the saddle or shifting under pressure in a race situation. The five smallest cogs mount individually with aluminum spacers between them.

Campagnolo's freehub body interface uses a different spline pattern than Shimano or SRAM, so this cassette only fits Campagnolo-compatible freehubs. The good news is that the 11-speed spline pattern is the same as Campagnolo's 10-speed system, so existing Campagnolo wheels work without modification. The included aluminum lockring threads on with a standard Campagnolo cassette tool and torques to 40Nm.... Read More

Two bikes: Custom carbon Super Record complete with 11-25 SR cassette; Titanium cross bike with Record parts and Chorus 12-29 cassette. The knees have reached an age where a 12-29 makes more sense, so here is some data on Campy 12-29 11-speed Cassettes: Cost per oz saved (over Chorus) Super Record (reported wt) 220 grams $476 $130 Record (reported wt) 246 grams $332 $115 Chorus (actual wt, new) 291 grams $150 As best I can tell, the cassettes I own function similarly (very well). After a few miles, they are both covered with chain oil and look the same. For the significant price difference, I decided I could tolerate an additional 1.5-2.5 oz so I went with Chorus. It is beautifully machined and worthy of my carbon bike.
