Description
Fitting 13 cogs into the cassette space designed for 12 forced Campagnolo to rethink the chain first. The Super Record 13 Chain narrows to 4.9mm wide through reduced link spacing and hollowed pins that sit flush with the outer plates, letting the chain navigate the tighter gaps between 13-speed sprockets without binding or hesitation. Campagnolo carried the engineering over from Ekar, where the 13-speed chain concept was proven in gravel conditions before making the jump to the road platform.
The Black Chrome surface treatment improves wear resistance and dampens drivetrain noise — useful on a chain this narrow, where the contact surfaces are working harder than they would on a wider 12-speed equivalent. The C-Link master link handles installation and removal without breaking pins or using specialty tools, which makes it straightforward to pull the chain off for a proper degrease and relube. The link itself is built to the same durability standard as the rest of the chain, so you're not introducing a weak point at the connection just to simplify service.
This chain ships at 123 links, which covers most 2x13 road builds without needing to add length. It works exclusively with Super Record 13 and Record X 13 cassettes and chainrings — the tooth profiles on those components are shaped specifically for this chain's plate geometry and width, and running it with older 12-speed Campagnolo drivetrains or any Shimano or SRAM system isn't going to work. If you're running the new 13-speed platform and need a replacement chain, this is the only correct answer.
