Description
The Ultra-Torque crankset uses bearings pressed onto the spindle rather than housed in the bottom bracket cups, which means the drive-side bearing sits exposed until you install this retaining clip. The clip engages two small holes on the drive-side cup and positions its prongs between the bearing and the seal. This creates a mechanical stop that limits lateral movement to roughly a quarter millimeter. Without the clip installed, the crankset can shift under pedaling load, which accelerates bearing wear and can cause front shifting issues.
The clip also serves as a safety during service. When you remove the 10mm center bolt to pull the crankset apart, the clip prevents the drive-side arm from falling out of the cup before you're ready to remove it. This matters when you're working on the bike in a stand and need to control component removal sequencing. The stainless steel construction resists corrosion from road spray and repeated installation cycles. The clip fits all Campagnolo Ultra-Torque drive-side cups across the entire groupset range from Veloce through Super Record.
These clips can get bent or lost during bearing replacement, so having a spare on hand makes sense if you do your own crankset service. Made in Italy.
